I know what you meant, that you believe writers need to be fairly compensated for their creation.

But isn’t that what the clickbait artists do here? Convert the views into money? Those aren’t the eyeballs I’m referring to. Nor do I want to feel I’m turning into a hack for the cash.

That’s why I create what I do here, which comes in the form of responses to articles like yours and others. Writing for me is more art than craft, and I want people to be able to appreciate it, even if I end up giving it away.

Which, I apparently do.

I do hope that writers like you become more successful at Medium. Truly. You could even have my share of the revenue if you want.

I just worry, and I probably didn’t make this clear in my first comment, that those who seek higher compensation for their creativity will start looking askance at those of us who will create for free.

Y’know, because we’re a drag on your efforts. And soon become targets for getting marginalized, or moved off the platform entirely.

So that everyone left will be a real writer.
